Short Description: The Sony SH800S (model LE-SH800SFP) is a compact benchtop cell sorter with exchangeable microfluidic sorting chips and fully automated setup. In the facility it is dedicated to fluorescence-based analysis and sorting of prokaryotic cells and other microorganisms.
Produser: Sony Biotechnology, SH800S Cell Sorter, model LE-SH800SFP
Equipment Information:
Features:
- Benchtop fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) instrument with disposable microfluidic sorting chips.
- Fully automated setup, from chip loading and optical alignment to drop delay determination (CoreFinder technology).
- Four lasers and simultaneous detection of up to 6 fluorescence colours, 8 parameters in total with scatter.
- 2-way sorting: up to 2 different populations are collected simultaneously.
- Bulk or single-cell sorting into tubes and plates.
- Exchangeable sample lines and disposable chips reduce the risk of cross-contamination and the need for maintenance.
- Applications include analysis and sorting of microbial populations, selection of cells labelled with fluorescent proteins, and single-cell isolation for cloning and genomics.
Operating Principle:
- Cells flow through the channel of a disposable microfluidic chip and pass a single laser interrogation point one by one, where light scatter and fluorescence are recorded. At the chip outlet the stream is broken into droplets, and droplets containing target cells are charged and deflected in an electrostatic field into collection tubes or plate wells.
Technical Specification:
- Lasers: 405, 488, 561 and 638 nm, collinear excitation (single interrogation point).
- Detection: 6 fluorescence channels (450/50, 525/50, 600/60, 665/30, 720/60, 785/60 nm) and 2 scatter parameters.
- Sorting chips: 70, 100 and 130 µm.
- Tube sorting: 2-way.
- Plate sorting: 6-, 12-, 24-, 48-, 96- and 384-well plates and PCR plates.
- Because of the single interrogation point, one fluorophore per detection channel is recommended.
