Equipment Information

Functions:

Inovenso IPS-14RS programmable syringe pumps are designed for precise liquid dosing, infusion, and withdrawal, providing smooth flow with minimal pulsation. The equipment is used in scientific research applications requiring accurate control of reagent flow rates, volumes, and flow direction.

Capabilities:

  • Each pump features two independently controlled channels, allowing simultaneous operation of syringes of different sizes with individually adjustable flow rates, volumes, and operating directions. Both infusion and withdrawal modes are supported, including simultaneous operation of the two channels in opposite directions.
  • The pumps support programming of up to 5 consecutive process steps, storage and recall of up to 5 programs, and execution of up to 50 repeat cycles. Flow rates can also be adjusted during operation without interrupting the process.

Operating Principle:

Each syringe is driven by an independent stepper motor with Microstep Drive technology, ensuring precise and smooth plunger movement. The liquid flow rate is determined by the syringe's internal diameter and the speed of plunger movement. By reversing the direction of plunger movement, liquid is either dispensed from the syringe or withdrawn from an external source into the syringe.

Applications:

  • Precise reagent dosing and delivery in continuous-flow synthesis systems.
  • Microfluidic studies and controlled liquid mixing processes.
  • Synthesis of nanoparticles, microspheres, and other microstructures.
  • Electrospinning and electrospraying processes.
  • Reaction kinetics studies and controlled reagent dosing.
  • Perfusion of biological systems, drug delivery, and in vitro experiments.
  • Precise sample and reagent delivery in analytical systems.

Information for the User:

  • An introductory safety briefing by the responsible person is mandatory before using the equipment. Only trained and authorized personnel are permitted to operate it.
  • Before operation, ensure that syringes are securely mounted, plungers are correctly positioned in their holders, and the correct syringe internal diameters are entered into the control system. An incorrect diameter setting results in inaccurate liquid infusion or withdrawal rates.
  • When working with volatile, flammable, toxic, or chemically aggressive reagents, adequate local exhaust ventilation must be provided, and appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn.
  • Syringes and connecting tubing must be chemically compatible with the reagents used. Suitable glass or other chemically resistant syringes should be used for aggressive solvents.
  • Before starting the pump, check that the infusion and withdrawal lines are unobstructed and that all connections are secure and leak-tight. Blocked lines may cause excessive pressure, potentially damaging the syringe or connections.
  • Avoid contact with moving mechanical components and syringe plungers during operation due to the risk of pinching or crushing injuries.
  • After use, flush syringes and tubing with a suitable solvent and dispose of reagent residues in accordance with the laboratory's chemical waste management procedures.
  • User Manual: User manual IPS-14RS

Additional Comments: The laboratory operates two Inovenso IPS-14RS syringe pumps, providing a total of four independently controlled liquid infusion or withdrawal channels. The actual flow rate limits depend on the syringe sizes used and operating conditions.
