We are delighted to share some wonderful news—Sofia, a new PhD student from Mexico, has joined the Hormone and Brain Function Research Group. She will be working at the Life Sciences Center as an MSCA PhD student on the "MenoBrain" project.
Sofia sends her warm regards to everyone and introduces herself briefly:

Sveiki! My name is Sofía, I am from Mexico and I have recently arrived at the Hormones and Brain Function Research Group in Vilnius University as a MSCA Doctoral Candidate joining the MenoBrain project. In my country I graduated in biomedical engineering and decided to go abroad for my master’s studies in medical technology from a joint Erasmus Mundus program that gave me the chance to study and work across Germany, Portugal, and France.
I have worked in clinical neurosurgery and medical devices R&D settings, and now I am dedicated to contributing to women’s healthcare advances with my research. By assessing the effects of alleviating therapies for menopausal symptoms, the MenoBrain action will contribute to real-world-data creation. So that women can have orientation and education regarding menopausal treatment alternatives to reduce their symptoms and improve their brain health.
My research within the project will consist of identifying objective electrophysiological and psychological markers to characterize subjective symptoms reported by women participants during their menopause transition. I look forward to collaborating within the research team to translate psychoneurological data into meaningful health findings to give women a brighter future for their menopausal transition and find a deeper understanding of their symptoms.
Outside research, I enjoy learning languages, reading classical novels and essays of different topics, I also like hiking and discovering new cities so I’m certain that the landscapes of Lithuania and its historical capital will give me a lot of great moments!
