On May 14, an international symposium “EnviroMood Vilnius 2026” was held at the Life Sciences Center, featuring talks from the partners of the EnviroMood consortium funded by ERA-NET NEURON and the Research Council of Lithuania. Dr. med. Stefan Vestring, Prof. Igor Branchi, Prof. Eero Castrén, Asst. Prof. Ksenia Meyza, Prof. Shira Knafo and Prof. Urtė Neniškytė presented their research on the interaction between environment–brain–plasticity and its impact on mental health.

On the same day, Prof. Claus Normann and Prof. Igor Branchi participated in a discussion organized by Vilnius University Discussion Club that took place at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania. Panelists discussed the origins and meaning of the mind, (artificial) intelligence, consciousness, the process of thinking, why it is difficult to find a single definition, and why the mind cannot be understood outside its body and without the context of the environment. You can read more about the discussion here (in Lithuanian), and you can find a video of the event here (in English).
