The Election Commission of the Life Sciences Center (LSC), acting in accordance with Paragraph 20 of the Regulations of the Institute of Biosciences of the Life Sciences Center of Vilnius University, has registered Prof. Dr. Eglė Lastauskienė and Dr. Algirdas Žiogas as candidates to participate in the elections for the position of Director of the LSC Institute of Biosciences (IB).

On 6 January 2026 at 11:00 a.m., in Room R401 of the LSC, Saulėtekio al. 7, Vilnius, the LSC Election Commission will organize a meeting between the candidates for the position of IB Director and the IB community.
On 8 and 9 January 2026, the Director will be elected by secret ballot by IB employees who meet the requirements set out in Article 12, Paragraph 4 of the Statute of Vilnius University. The elections shall be considered valid if more than half of all IB employees entitled to vote participate in the election. The LSC Election Commission will report the results of the completed IB Director elections to the Director of the LSC, who will decide whether to submit the elected IB Director’s candidacy to the LSC Council for approval.
