The VU Life Sciences Centre was visited by the President of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Eva Zažímalová.

Prof. Dr. Gintaras Valinčius, Director of the VU Life Sciences Centre, gave a presentation on the Centre, its activities and scientific achievements, international partnerships, and the Centre's plans to her and to the Head of the Protocol Division of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Ms Dita Hladikova, and to the Czech journalists.

Possible intensive cooperation between Lithuanian and Czech scientists was also discussed during the meeting.

VU GMC already has such experience. Dr. Inga Griškova-Bulanova, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Biosciences of VU GMC, is collaborating with Dr. Tomáš Páleníček and Martin Brunovský from the Czech National Institute of Mental Health. Together, the researchers aim to identify biomarkers of mental illness and to assess the effects of psychotropic substances on brain activity.

The President of the Czech Academy of Sciences has visited Lithuania together with the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic (Upper House of Parliament), Miloš Vystrčil, and his delegation.
