Vilnius University Life Sciences Center (VU LSC) received great news from the Central Project Management Agency (CPMA).

It was confirmed that almost € 6 million have been allocated for the implementation of the EMBL Partner Institution project financing according to the Order of the Minister of Education, Science and Sports of the Republic of Lithuania of 15 March 2021 “On the Allocation of Funding for a Project Submitted under the European Union Funds Investment Operational Program 2014-2020 Priority 1 Promotion of Research, Experimental Development and Innovation” implementation measure “Promotion of Excellence Centers in the Field of Smart Specialization” co-financed by the European Union Structural Funds.

The CPMA also informed that the preparation of the Project Agreement has started.

The new institute, which has no analogues in Lithuania, will employ six high-level international research groups to develop and strengthen gene editing technology, one of the creators of which is the famous Lithuanian scientist, Distinguished Professor Virginijus Šikšnys of the VU LSC.
