Project title: Acquisition of Equipment for Microbiome Architecture Research (MAYA)
Project code: 10-093-K-0025
Project duration: 2026 04 22 – 2026 12 31
Total project value: EUR 299,123.85
Funded by the European Union NextGenerationEU
Project implementer: Vilnius University
A European Union-funded project aimed at strengthening Research and Experimental Development (R&D) capacities has been awarded to Vilnius University Life Sciences Center (VU LSC). The project is dedicated to the acquisition of laboratory equipment for the implementation of research within the “MAYA” project.
During the implementation of the project, devices for determining molecular interaction and analytical equipment for identifying chemical and biological substances will be acquired. The equipment will be used for protein research, the hypoxia chamber will be used to create hypoxic conditions for culturing mammalian cells, the ÄKTA protein purification system will be used to purify the obtained proteins whose functions will be investigated, and the mass spectrometer will be used for the identification and characterization of compounds. The equipment will also be essential in the future for submitting applications and conducting research in related subject areas.
Project Activity – Support for the Upgrading of Laboratory Equipment and R&D Infrastructure
Description of the Sub-Activity:
Equipment related to the submitted Horizon Europe proposal MAYA under the call HORIZON-MSCA-2024-DN-01 will be acquired. This equipment is essential for carrying out the planned research activities, purifying the target proteins, and analysing various substances.
The following equipment is planned for purchase:
- AKTA protein purification system
- Mass spectrometer with an LC (liquid chromatography) system
Within the project, the applicant intends to carry out non-economic activities that do not fall within the definition of economic activity set out in Article 2(8) of the Law on Value Added Tax of the Republic of Lithuania. No revenue is expected to be generated from the use of the equipment acquired through project funding.
