Short Description: The TwoMP mass photometer measures the mass of individual molecules based on the intensity of light scattering as they land on a glass surface. The technique provides high accuracy, short measurement times, and requires no complex sample preparation, making it ideal for protein research and analysis.
Produser: Refeyn
Equipment Information:
Functions:
- Measures the mass of individual biomolecules in solution.
- Detects molecular heterogeneity, oligomeric states, and aggregation levels.
- Provides quantitative and qualitative analysis without labeling or complex preparation.
- Enables real-time monitoring of biomolecular interactions.
Capabilities:
- Works with extremely small sample volumes (often 1 µL).
- High sensitivity allows detection of small mass changes between molecular species.
- Capable of analyzing proteins, nucleic acids, complexes, virus particles, and other biomolecules.
- Generates histograms and distribution profiles of molecular species directly from solution.
- Enables single-molecule analysis, not ensemble averages.
Purpose:
- Designed to characterize biomolecules under native conditions.
- Intended for rapid protein quality control and structural-state analysis.
- Useful for assessing purity, aggregation, sample stability, and complex formation.
Applications:
- Protein oligomerization and dimer–monomer equilibrium studies.
- Aggregation monitoring for biopharmaceutical development.
- Antibody and recombinant protein QC.
- Nucleic acid–protein interaction analysis.
- Screening experimental conditions (e.g., buffers, mutations, inhibitors).
Working Principle:
- TwoMP uses mass photometry, a technique where individual molecules in solution land on a glass coverslip. As they do, they scatter incident light. The scattered light interferes with reflected light, creating a contrast signal proportional to molecular mass. By calibrating the contrast signal with known standards, the system calculates the mass of each detected particle. This enables label-free determination of molecular size and populations at single-molecule resolution.
