Short Description: ÄKTA Avant 25 is an automated liquid chromatography system designed for the purification and analysis of proteins and other biomolecules. The instrument ensures high reproducibility and efficiency of results. It is often used for protein purification from cell extracts in research and industrial applications.
Produser: Cytiva
Equipment information:
Functions:
An automated liquid chromatography system designed for the purification of biomolecules such as proteins, peptides, and nucleic acids. The system provides precise control over buffer gradients, flow rate, pressure, and detection parameters (UV, conductivity, pH), allowing real-time monitoring of the elution process.
Capabilities:
Programming of complex multi-step purification methods via UNICORN software.
Compatible with various chromatography techniques: ion exchange, affinity, hydrophobic interaction, gel filtration, and more.
Accurate fraction collection based on UV signal, time, or volume.
High reproducibility and automation, enabling unattended operation.
Purpose:
Used for the purification of proteins, enzymes, antibodies, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules from biological or recombinant sources. Suitable for both research and small-scale preparative production.
Applications:
Protein purification for structural and functional studies
Production of enzyme or antibody preparations
Quality control and analysis of biotechnological products
Process optimization prior to industrial scale-up
Working Principle:
The system pumps a sample through a chromatography column packed with resin to which biomolecules bind based on specific chemical or physical properties (such as charge, size, or affinity). By changing the buffer composition or ionic strength, the target molecule is released and eluted from the resin. Detectors monitor this process and generate a chromatogram showing the separation profile.
