Short Description: Automated preparative chromatography system combining Flash chromatography and prep HPLC in one instrument. UV-Vis DAD and ELSD detection, pulse-free three-piston pump, four-solvent gradient. Pressure up to 50 bar (Flash) and 400 bar (prep HPLC); flow rate up to 300 mL/min (Flash) and 150 mL/min (prep HPLC).
Produser: Buchi
Equipment Information:
The BUCHI C-950 is the top-of-range Pure Excellence preparative chromatography system combining Flash chromatography and prep HPLC in a single instrument, eliminating the need for a separate Flash unit. The system is designed for purification of synthesis products, natural compounds, APIs, peptides, proteins and other chemical mixtures from a few milligrams up to hundreds of grams. A three-piston pump delivers pulse-free flow for high-quality separation; a four-solvent gradient enables demanding separations. Detection is by UV-Vis DAD (200–800 nm) with real-time 3D spectral display and a patented ELSD detector with direct nano-pulse injection – no valve, no sample heating, and the smallest sample loss on the market (30 µL/min). An innovative Quick-Release cartridge holder with automatic locking and universal Luer connections is compatible with any flash cartridge on the market. Automatic sample injection through a loop supports both solid and liquid loading. A closed fraction collector bay with air filtration allows the system to be operated outside a fume hood. Applications: purification of organic synthesis products, API purification in drug development, natural product isolation, peptide/protein separation, teaching of preparative chromatography. Three C-950 systems in parallel allow simultaneous purification workflows and optimal utilization of equipment.

Information for the User:
- A briefing by the responsible person is mandatory before use, covering Flash and prep HPLC modes, cartridge/column selection and safe operation. When using flammable or toxic solvents, the closed fraction collector bay exhaust must be connected to ventilation or the system must be placed in a fume hood. Before each experiment, verify the compatibility of solvents and stationary phase and confirm pressure limits (especially up to 400 bar in prep HPLC mode). After use, flush the system according to the method; the ELSD nozzle is easily accessible for cleaning. The cartridge holder's Luer connections are compatible with any flash cartridge on the market, so no adapters are needed.

Additional Comments:
GMC operates 3 (three) identical BUCHI C-950 systems, each with Flash chromatography functionality integrated into the instrument (combined prep HPLC + Flash). A separate Flash chromatography system is therefore no longer required – this consolidation optimizes the equipment park and budget utilization (see item 105). Three parallel units enable efficient sample purification across multiple research groups simultaneously. The systems are compatible with BUCHI FlashPure prefilled cartridges, GlasPure empty glass columns (up to 50 bar) and PrepPure preparative HPLC columns.
