Short Description: Rotary vacuum evaporators for solvent removal and sample concentration with flasks up to 5 L. Available in several configurations, ranging from the basic University Academic-Chill package for academic research to the Advanced Evaporation variant with extended control functions. Some systems include a Hei-Chill recirculating chiller – no tap water c
Produser: Heidolph
Equipment Information:
The Hei-VAP rotary vacuum evaporators are designed for solvent distillation, sample concentration, crystallization, drying and recirculation under vacuum. Operating principle: the sample in a rotating flask is heated in a water or oil bath; under reduced pressure the solvent evaporates, condenses on the cooled condenser and is collected in a receiving flask. Rotation increases heat- and mass-transfer area and reduces the risk of overheating and bumping.Four Hei-VAP configurations are in use at GMC:
- Hei-VAP University Academic-Chill – entry-level model for academic teaching and routine use, supplied with a Hei-Chill recirculating chiller.
- Hei-VAP Core Allround Chill – "Allround" glassware configuration with vertical condenser for all standard distillations; supplied with a Hei-Chill chiller.
- Hei-VAP Basic – basic configuration with hand or motor lift and digital control (rotation speed, bath temperature).
- Hei-VAP Advanced Evaporation – advanced configuration with integrated vacuum controller, timer, programmable ramps and dynamic distillation programs.Applications: concentration of organic synthesis products, solvent removal, drying of extracts, crystallization, concentration of chromatography fractions, natural product isolation, biochemistry and pharmaceutical research.

Information for the User:
- A briefing by the responsible person is mandatory before use. When working with flammable, volatile or toxic solvents the evaporator must be placed in a fume hood or under adequate extraction ventilation; PPE (safety glasses, gloves, lab coat) is required. Check the evaporating flask, clamp and PTFE seal before each run. Use deionized water for the water bath or dedicated silicone oil for the oil bath. If the over-temperature protection trips, investigate the cause before restarting. After use, let the bath cool, flush the glassware and empty the condenser of solvent. Do not fill the evaporating flask beyond half of its volume. Avoid sudden venting of the vacuum to prevent bumping of the sample into the condenser.

Additional Comments:
The different Hei-VAP configurations in use allow the user to select the appropriate rotary evaporator for the task – from routine concentration work (Basic, University Academic-Chill, Core Allround Chill) to more demanding automated distillations with programmable vacuum profiles (Advanced Evaporation). The "Chill" configurations with Hei-Chill recirculating chillers save water and allow operation in rooms without tap-water cooling. All systems are compatible with standard Heidolph glassware sets (G1, G3, G5, G6), with or without protective coating.
