Aims of course

To master the principles of modern biotechnology.

Main topics

  • Construction of metabolic pathways in prokaryotes and lower eukaryotes by genetic engineering.
  • Peculiarities of construction of plant metabolism pathways with the help of genetic engineering.
  • Construction of metabolic pathways using genetic engineering in animals and the humans. Gene therapy.
  • Modification of antibiotic biosynthetic pathways.
  • Production of hybrid antibiotics using in their synthesis involved modified enzymes.
  • Protein engineering. Principles of  protein construction in vitro. Development of new proteins, undetectable in nature. Purposeful change of the specificity, thermostability and other properties of enzymes.
  • Modeling, engineering and production of antibodies with catalytic properties - abzymes.
  • Development of protein- and cell-based vaccines.
  • DNA vaccines. Principles of development and use. Prospects for clinical use.
  • Methods for combinatorial polypeptide synthesis. Use for the production of recombinant proteins.
  • Purposeful construction and application of multifunctional protein complexes.
  • Use of enzymes in organic chemistry.
  • Stereoselective synthesis.
  • Nanotechnologies based on biological objects and their application.
  • Construction and use of transgenic organisms.
