Biologists – for biology teachers in Vilnius:

To improve the subject knowledge of biology teachers in Vilnius and to encourage the collaboration between Vilnius University and general education schools, lecturers from VU LSC developed a program called ‘Biologists – for biology teachers in Vilnius’, which consisted of 18 workshops (63 academic hours). The workshops were created in accordance with the new general education programme for biology. By participating in these workshops, teachers will enhance their theoretical knowledge and practical skills at the Didactics Center at VU LSC. These workshops are organised by ‘Edu Vilnius’ in collaboration with the Center for Natural Sciences.

Past workshops:

  • Microscopy of microorganisms under conditions at school (2023-11-16)
  • Investigating the conditioned pupillary response (2023-11-24)
  • The anatomy and morphology of vegetative plant structures (2023-11-21)
  • Recording bioelectrical signals in humans and its applications – investigating EMG and the propagation velocity of nerve impulses (2023-12-01)
  • How to choose a microscope/stereomicroscope for school and how to adequately use it? (2023-12-04)
  • Stages in an experiment and teaching about them (2023-12-07)
  • Investigating prepared animal microscope slides at school (2023-12-11)
  • Experiments on animal behaviour (2024-01-16)
  • Investigating the size and density of an animal population (2024-01-23)
  • Testing visual perception (2023-12-26)
  • Assessing the photosynthetic rate by using gas sensors (2024-01-30)
  • Studying heart rate variability (2024-02-01)
  • Investigating the permeability of plant cell membranes (2024-02-23)
