From 7 to 10 September, the 14th annual Nordic EMBL Partnership Meeting will take place in Umeå, Sweden. The EMBL Partnership Institute based at the Vilnius University Life Sciences Center (VU LSC) will also participate in the meeting.
This year’s meeting is organised by the Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS). The four-day programme includes meetings for early-career researchers, workshops for research group leaders, the main scientific conference, poster sessions and discussions.
VU LSC will be represented at the conference by Director Dr Arvydas Lubys, VU LSC Professor and Chair of the EMBL Council Virginijus Šikšnys, as well as researchers from the VU LSC EMBL Partnership Institute.
The scientific programme will include:
A presentation by Dr Constantinos Patinios, Research Group Leader at the VU LSC EMBL Partnership Institute, entitled “Expanding append editing through programmable DNA ADP-ribosylation of multiple nucleobases”, in which he will present the potential of programmable DNA ADP-ribosylation for advancing genome editing technologies.
A presentation by Prof. Urtė Neniškytė, Research Group Leader at the VU LSC EMBL Partnership Institute, entitled “SynOmics: Defining molecular signatures of synapses in normal and epileptic human brain circuitry”. The presentation will explore the molecular signatures of synapses in the human brain and how they change in neural circuits affected by epilepsy.
A presentation by VU LSC PhD student Marius Vinogradovas entitled “TnpB: A specific and unusual nuclease for genome editing”, focusing on the TnpB nuclease and its potential applications in genome editing technologies.
The Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine is one of Europe’s major strategic initiatives contributing to a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms of disease. Its strengths lie in the complementary expertise of its research groups, high-level research infrastructure and close collaboration with industry.
