The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye to Lithuania, Esra Toplu, visited the Vilnius University Life Sciences Center (VU LSC), accompanied by Second Secretary Mehmet Bakıcı. During the visit, she met with the Director of VU LSC, Dr Arvydas Lubys, Prof Virginijus Šikšnys, and Head of Marketing and Communication Kristina Černiauskienė.

The meeting focused on bilateral relations between Lithuania and Turkiye, opportunities for cooperation in the field of life sciences, and prospects for joint projects.

During her visit, the Ambassador was also introduced to the research carried out at the centre. Dr Marius Dagys, Head of the Bioanalysis Laboratory, presented work on bioanalysis and the development of advanced biosensors aimed at next-generation diagnostic solutions, which are expected to enable complex laboratory tests to be performed more quickly, simply, and with greater accessibility for patients in the future.

As part of her visit, the Ambassador also toured the Zoological Museum of VU LSC, where the exhibits were presented by Dr Grita Skujienė.

It is hoped that this visit will serve as a foundation for further cooperation between Lithuanian and Turkish institutions, fostering joint research, knowledge exchange, and the development of innovation.
