On November 7, the Vilnius University Life Sciences Center (VU LSC) welcomed distinguished guests from Poland.

Prof. Tomasz K. Wojdacz, Head of the Independent Clinical Epigenetics Laboratory at the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin, and Dr. Damian Syjczak, CEO of the International Society for Molecular and Clinical Epigenetics and Deputy Director of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.

The visitors were greeted by Julius Gagilas, Deputy Director for Business Collaboration and Infrastructure, and Kristina Černiauskienė, Head of Marketing and Communications at the LSC. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss potential areas for scientific collaboration and future joint initiatives between the two institutions.

During the visit, VU LSC representatives presented the Center’s key research directions, modern infrastructure, and study programs. Discussions also highlighted the ongoing development of the Center’s diverse core facilities and their role in advancing research for both academia and industry. The Polish delegation expressed particular interest in possible future cooperation with VU LSC’s genome editing experts, recognizing shared scientific interests in epigenetics and molecular biology.

To provide a closer look at current research activities, the guests visited the laboratory of Prof. Saulius Klimašauskas, where Dr. Miglė Tomkuvienė introduced ongoing projects in the field of epigenetics. The delegation also toured the laboratory of Prof. Rolandas Meškys, who presented his team’s research in enzymology.

The visit concluded with a mutual expression of interest in strengthening academic ties, laying the groundwork for potential future collaborations between the Pomeranian Medical University and VU LSC researchers.
