On November 5, Noora Mohammed Abdulhamid Juma, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Lithuania, visited the Vilnius University Life Sciences Center (VU LSC).
During the visit, Ambassador Juma met with Prof. Eglė Lastauskienė, Advisor to the Director on International Relations, Dr. Ingrida Prigodina Lukošienė, Deputy Director for Studies, and Kristina Černiauskienė, Head of Marketing and Communications.
The meeting focused on strengthening academic ties between Lithuania and the United Arab Emirates, with a particular emphasis on creating new opportunities for UAE students to pursue studies at Vilnius University. Representatives of the VU LSC introduced the ambassador to the center’s primary research directions, study programs, and modern infrastructure. They also discussed possible avenues for promoting Vilnius University’s study opportunities in the UAE, including participation in international study exhibition events that could help attract future students.
Ambassador Juma expressed great interest in the center’s strong emphasis on practical training, noting the extensive laboratory experience provided to both Bachelor’s and Master’s students. Following the discussions, she toured the student training laboratories. She explored ongoing research in Prof. Eglė Lastauskienė’s microbiology lab, gaining a deeper insight into the center’s research excellence and modern learning environment.
The visit highlighted shared ambitions to enhance student exchange and build lasting academic partnerships between the United Arab Emirates and Vilnius University.
