On October 14th, Prof. Shun-Fen Tzeng, Executive Director of the Science and Technology Division at the Taiwanese Representative Office in Lithuania and Distinguished Professor at the Department of Life Sciences, National Cheng Kung University, visited the Vilnius University Life Sciences Center (VU LSC).

Prof. Tzeng was welcomed by Dr. Arvydas Lubys, Director of VU LSC, along with Deputy Director for Business Collaboration and Infrastructure Julius Gagilas, EMBL Partnership Institute Principal Investigators Prof. Urtė Neniškytė and Dr. Jonathan Arias, researchers Prof. Daumantas Matulis and Dr. Egidijus Šimoliūnas, and Head of Communications and Marketing Kristina Černiauskienė.

During the meeting, participants discussed the advancement of science in Taiwan under the National Science and Technology Council, the development of national research institutes and science parks. Representatives from VU LSC and shared insights into our study process and research directions. The conversation also focused on opportunities for student mobility, bilateral and multilateral research collaborations between Taiwan, Lithuania, and other Baltic countries, as well as funding possibilities for joint projects.

The visit concluded with a tour of VU LSC laboratories, including student training facilities and research labs. Dr. Jonathan Arias and Prof. Daumantas Matulis introduced their teams’ ongoing research and infrastructure.
