On August 19, Karen Feinberg, an international expert in innovation and entrepreneurship, developing global partnerships and capacity-building initiatives, visited the Vilnius University Life Sciences Center (VU LSC). She was welcomed by Julius Gagilas, Deputy Director for Business Cooperation and Infrastructure.
VU LSC and its main academic and research activities were introduced at the beginning of the visit. Later, Karen Feinberg explored various laboratories and facilities. Dr. Marius Dagys and Dr. Dalius Ratautas presented their work on biosensors, PhD student Justina Žvirblytė introduced single-cell analysis methods, and Valerija Šatrova, Coordinator for School Outreach and Alumni Relations, presented the student training laboratories. Dr. Grita Skujienė showcased the exhibits of the Museum of Zoology, highlighting the story of animal evolution and its connections with Lithuania’s nature and the university’s learning traditions. The guest also visited the Technology Business Incubator, where biotechnology startups are developing their activities.
This visit not only provided an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the infrastructure of the Life Sciences Center but also opened the door to potential cooperation with the Boston scientific community in the field of life sciences. Such a partnership could foster new joint projects, knowledge exchange, and the growth of innovation on an international scale.
