On June 19th, the Vilnius University Life Sciences Center (VU LSC) welcomed a delegation led by Ms. Marina Zanchi, Director of the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA). She was accompanied by her colleagues and representatives from the Research Council of Lithuania.
The delegation was received by VU LSC Director Dr. Arvydas Lubys, Advisor on International Relations Prof. Eglė Lastauskienė, and Deputy Director for Business Collaboration and Infrastructure Julius Gagilas.
The guests were introduced to the LSC’s core research directions, scientific infrastructure, and study process during the visit. The discussions focused on the internationalization of higher education and the role of translational medicine in connecting research with clinical application. The meeting also reflected on European scientific priorities and global scientific challenges.
Later in the visit, the delegation toured several of the LSC’s research laboratories. At Dr. Marius Dagys’ lab, guests were introduced to research on biosensors and their applications in diagnostics. In the laboratory of Prof. Rolandas Meškys, Dr. Vytautas Petkevičius presented their studies of biocatalysis and enzymology, highlighting their relevance to biotechnology. Dr. Daiva Baltriukienė and Dr. Aurelijus Burokas discussed their work on tissue engineering and the analysis of the gut-brain axis.
