On June 2nd, the Vilnius University Life Sciences Center (LSC) welcomed a delegation from Igbinedion University, Nigeria.
The Nigerian delegation included Prof. Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Okada, and Samuel Ehiremen Ibhanesebhor, Professor of Paediatrics and Neonatal Medicine at Igbinedion University. They were welcomed by LSC Director Dr. Arvydas Lubys, Advisor for International Partnerships Prof. Eglė Lastauskienė, and Julius Gagilas, Deputy Director for Business Collaboration and Infrastructure.
The visit provided a platform for both institutions to introduce their research priorities, academic programs, collaborations with the industry, and shared strategic visions for the future. Representatives of the Life Sciences Center presented successful practices in research development and the organization of study processes, highlighting the Center’s openness to support and collaborate with other research centers seeking to strengthen their scientific and academic capacities.
Part of the visit was a tour of LSC’s facilities. The guests visited the student training laboratories and engaged in discussions on microbial and enzymology research with Prof. Rolandas Meškys. They explored the Cryo-Electron Microscopy (CryoEM) facility, where they learned about structural and protein biology from Dr. Giedrė Tamulaitienė. The visit concluded at the LSC Zoological Museum, where Dr. Grita Skujienė presented the history and current exhibitions of the museum.
This visit marks a promising beginning for future academic and research collaborations. Vilnius University Life Sciences Center looks forward to strengthening ties with Igbinedion University and fostering long-term academic cooperation between Lithuania and Nigeria.
