This week, a delegation of senior researchers from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom visited Vilnius University Life Sciences Center (VU LSC).

During the visit, Prof. Eglė Lastauskienė, Chairwoman of the VU Senate and Director of the Institute of Biosciences at the VU LSC, introduced the guests to the Center and its research activities. Anzelma Uselienė, Head of the Research Projects Unit at VU, and Yoram Lev Yehudi, International Grants Coordinator, gave an overview of the opportunities and challenges of collaborative project funding and researcher exchange initiatives. VU LSC researchers introduced themselves and talked about their ongoing projects. In the ensuing discussions, Lancaster University research groups and their projects were discussed, identifying possible areas of cooperation with our research groups. Barriers such as different study programs, university funding and tax systems were discussed to facilitate research visits and student exchange between universities. Organizing of joint summer schools was also discussed. The delegation also visited the LSC laboratories. Finally, both sides from VU LSC and Lancaster University discussed future communication platforms, meetings and ways of further cooperation.

Representatives from Lancaster University already visited VU LSC in October 2023 and 2022.
