A delegation of Academia Sinica of Taiwan has visited the Vilnius University Life Sciences Center (VU LSC) to discuss a possible future scientific co-operation.

The guests were greated by the Director of the VU LSC Prof. Daumantas Matulis who later presented the VU LSC, its facilities, the main research conducted and certain possibilities to co-operate to the representatives of Academia Sinica. Prof. Virginijus Šikšnys, Chairman of the Council of the VU LSC has presented gene editing technology and partnership with EMBL.

President of Academia Sinica James Liao and Vice President Chin-shing Huang spoke about the institutes and research centers that are united by Academia Sinica and their fields of research.

Prof. D. Matulis has pointed out the significance of co-operation with Taiwanese scientific organization.
"The VU LSC and Academia Sinica co-operation can be important for both sides to develop research and exchange students," said Prof. D. Matulis.

Founded in 1928, Academia Sinica has earned a reputation for being Taiwan’s national  academic institution. Academia Sinica currently consists of 24 institutes and 8 research centers located in three research sections: the Mathematics and Physical Sciences Division, Life Sciences Division, and Division of Humanities and Social Sciences.
