Short Description: Countess 3 FL Automated Cell Counter is an instrument for automated cell counting and analysis using brightfield and fluorescence imaging with three-channel flexibility (brightfield, two fluorescence channels). It enables quantification of live/dead cells and fluorescently labelled populations in cell culture, immunology, and biotechnology labs.

Equipment Information:

Functions:

  • Automated cell counting using brightfield and fluorescence imaging.
  • Three-channel capability: brightfield plus two fluorescence channels (GFP, RFP).
  • Measures total cell concentration (cells/mL) in suspension samples.
  • Determines viability using Trypan Blue or fluorescent viability dyes.
  • On-board touchscreen interface with integrated image analysis software.
  • Stores images and results; data export via USB.
  • Uses disposable Countess chamber slides to reduce contamination risk.
  • Rapid analysis time (typically under 10 seconds per sample).
  • Reduces operator variability compared to manual counting.
  • Suitable for mammalian cell lines, primary cells, stem cells, and some insect cells.
  • Applicable in immunology, cell biology, gene expression, and bioprocess labs.
  • Supports monitoring before transfection, passaging, or cryopreservation.

Operating Principle:

  • Digital microscopy combined with fluorescence excitation/emission optics and image-processing algorithms to identify, count, and classify cells based on morphology and fluorescence intensity.
