On February the 1st, the closing event of Baltics Sandbox Ventures' 4th Incubation Program was held at the Life Sciences Center. During it, the program participants presented business ideas developed over two months, and the first pilot project related to the opening of medical data for faster innovation was announced.

During the incubation program, even two teams of LSC researchers tested their knowledge of clinical practice and academic research in business, and developed strategies for commercializing their innovations. A total of 20 teams presented their business ideas during the closing event.

Prof. Daumantas Matulis, in his welcoming speech, was happy about the start-up incubation program held at the LSC, emphasizing the importance of science and business: "Why did we gather at the Life Sciences Center? Life sciences study our bodies, health, and nutrition. Many chemical reactions take place in the body that can be replicated in test tubes. This helps researchers, including those working at this center, to study disease mechanisms and drug development. This process includes basic research, therapeutic discovery, patenting, commercialization, and clinical application. The ultimate goal is to use the technologies developed to cure critically ill patients. This is the core of the life sciences and biotechnology industry goal. A science-business ecosystem is essential to support every stage of innovation".

The event also announced the first pilot project to facilitate access to personalized secondary health data sets for medical innovation startu-ps. The call for applications for the use of secondary health data for innovation is now open. Start-ups can fill out the application until February 19 on the project website (www.datapilot.lt).
