The "Life Sciences Baltics" conference took place in Vilnius last week, bringing together life science enthusiasts from more than 20countries of the world. This biennial event aimed to discuss the development of biotechnology, digital health technologies, the advancement of medicine, and the future prospects of life sciences.

During a panel discussion "Best practices for life science startups" hosted by Baltic Sandbox Ventures, entrepreneurs shared the secrets of success in building a biotech start-up. The Startup Pitch Challenge was a highlight of the event, with 13 business ideas presented to a captivated audience. The startups Caszyme, Psylink, and BALTYMAS, all based in the Technological Business Incubator of the Life Science Center, shared their success stories in X session "Synbio Breakfast by Biocatalyst Foundation".

At the Vilnius University stand, visitors were invited to take a photo with the 5DWB molecule, whose structure was studied by Dr Giedrė Tamulaitienė and colleagues from the Life Sciences Center. The XVIII session of the conference, "What's Next: Emerging Trends in Life Sciences", featured a presentation by Dr Stephen Knox Jones Jr, a researcher at the VU Life Sciences Center, EMBL Partnership Institute. The researcher spoke on the highly promising topic "Profiling high-throughput CRISPR-based gene editors and their targets".
