Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Life Sciences Center, Vilnius University, Lithuania is available.

Deadline for applications is 2022 June 30.

About the project

The two-year postdoc fellowship project will focus on analysis and integration of different data (microbiota, metabolomics, behaviour, gene expression) from animal studies on aging and brain disorders. Our laboratory aims to better understand the contribution of the gut microbiota to physiology and pathophysiology with the goal to open opportunities for development of novel therapies and novel biomarkers in the area of brain health. The project will be implemented under a supervision dr. Aurelijus Burokas.

As a postdoc in microbiota research, you will focus on analysis work concerning the role of the microbiome in several different projects all focusing on studying the microbiome and its interaction with the host. A central component of the role is to assume responsibility for bioinformatics analysis work in assigned studies, e.g. establish analysis plans combining microbiome data with additional metadata such as omics-data, behavioural data, etc. in order to perform the analysis work in collaboration with other colleagues at Life Science Center and external research partners with the ambition to generate scientific publications. The working language is English.

Enquiries regarding this position should be addressed to dr. Aurelijus Burokas by email .

  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Additional skills that are especially meritorious for the position:

  • A strong track record in omics data analysis (e.g. (meta)genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, genotyping data) is a plus
  • Experience in behavioral datamining/machine learning, biomarker detection is a plus
  • Experience analyzing both marker gene and metagenome data from DNA or RNA using scientifically established methods
