A Postdoctoral Researcher position is available in the Laboratory of Dr. Giancarlo Russo at the Life Sciences Center of Vilnius University, a Partner Institute of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory for genome editing (VU LSC-EMBL Partner Institute), Lithuania.
The research interest of the group is centred around the investigation of CRISPR-Cas systems in bacteria using single-molecule, third-generation sequencing technologies (Pacific Bioscience, Oxford Nanopore). This work aims at expanding the current knowledge of innate and acquired defence systems in bacterial isolates as well as in microbial ecosystems, with particular emphasis on the interaction between epigenetic changes and and the development of CRISPR arrays. The appointed researcher will benefit from a collaborative environment at the VU LSC-EMBL and will have access to a modern research facility equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentations.
